I realized today that for the past year or so, the little suckers I've been removing from my primulina WERE ACTUALLY FLOWER BUDS ALL ALONG. WTF why am I such a dumbass that I didn't double check that?? All this time I was wondering why such a healthy plant didn't bloom! Ughhhhhh it's hilarious but I'm so mad.

Mine is very floppy at the moment, I think it needs a bigger pot. Also a load of willowherb because it grows EVERYWHERE and I didn't get round to buying seeds, so I guess I'm just going to have a garden of weeds this year...

I bought a very sick tomato plant (because I'm an idiot who should have realized that it shouldn't be PURPLE), and I'm trying to wean it back to life. It's turning more green but it still doesn't really look healthy, and I've had it for four weeks now.

I want to garden. My next-door neighbor is constantly on his balcony. So I've been staying indoors. :/ Currently most of my plants are weeds; considering ordering loads of seeds online
before its too late, and planting them in the dead of night or something. But I need to decide soon!

I also kind of want to recycle my garden waste, but I have no room for a big compost bin. I'm not sure if I just have to bite the bullet and chuck all the dead plants, or if there's some way I can let the waste decompose into soil without things smelling terrible out there. I was considering just getting some big plant pots and dumping the dead plants into them along with some soil. If it works in a forest, it should work for me, right?

All the bulbs from last autumn are coming up and I'm so happy! Tulips, crocuses (mostly gone by now, but the leaves are nice too), daffodils, muscari, and hyacinth. Hoping to plant some herbs this year, too.

It is very tiring to turn compost heaps! Worth it, but why does it have to be so tiring?

Buying connifers! I had a border of 15, but 6 died from excess moisture. So trying again with a new plan. Hopefully they'll drain better this time. Also think I need to repot some of the survivors...

If I get one of those 'shake and rake' packs and shake, but do not rake, will anything grow? ie: if I just sprinkle seeds on a flowerbed and maybe later dust them with some new soil, rather than putting them in the earth properly... I mean, seeds plant themselves that way all the time, right? Nobody digs them bespoke holes in the forest (well, 'cept squirrels sometimes). So it should work, right? Maybe? =S

There's a new... orange bud?... on my orange tree! Maybe this one will ripen properly; the tree had 3 oranges when I receieved it, but I tried to eat them too early and they just tasted like acid. ;_; Had to chuck 'em.

Fleas, apparently. I'm pretty certain I caught fleas while doing the gardening. I have bites alllll over my body and new ones are appearing during the night. Washing All The Things, argh!

Need to order some more gravel for the garden. Keep picturing the annoyance of the delivery guy, like "This is so heavy, what is it, a bag of rocks?" *looks at package* "Fuck's sake!"

I keep getting caught in a cycle. I have more pots than compost, so I buy compost. Now I have more compost than pots. So I buy some more pots, to make the most of it. But I end up with more pots than compost. So I buy some more compost. So I buy some more pots. So...

So, meme, if you received a sealed 30x20x10 cardboard box, stuffed full of packing foam pieces, what would you assume it contained? Please take a moment to consider the sort of thing you would normally package like that...

Now, alternatively, if you had to package FOUR CONNIFERS, how would you do it?

Would you stuff them in a tiny cardboard box in their pots on their sides, on top of each other, so that the soil would go all over the box and at least one connifer would come out completely flat???

And here I was worried that they'd take up too much room because they were expensive and I had foolishly assumed they'd be packaged in a sane way, like maybe THE RIGHT WAY UP, at least. +_+

It's a bit miserable outside, but I did some planting! A mix of stuff: pansies, candytuft, nasturtiums, night scented stock, agastache and more... Yay for variety packs. :P While I was out there, a pigeon nearly pooed on my head; missed by a foot. Think it was trying to intimidate me into leaving it some seeds. Didn't work; I don't negotiate with terrorists.

My hoarding tendency and gardening kick is a dangerous combination. Now ever time I have a dessert, I'm like "maybe this pot could make a good flowerpot yes yes?" and am ending up with a house full of plastic.

Some more seeds arrived! Kinda wish I had a microscope so I could see them in detail; seeds are so cool! But idk where you start with a home microscope and I wouldn't want some bulky thing...

I thought my climbing plant had died over the last year, but there are new green leaves on it! Glad I didn't pull it out and kept watering even when I thought it was futile. I don't think it's ever had any blooms, though. I was hoping for fairytale vines with blossoms! But at least it's not dead.
