Hah, I'd hope so! Aren't they both super expensice *and* super fragile? :O

I haven't really ordered myself plants before; I normally receive them from relatives who seem to know reputable places to order from. So I'm used to them arriving carefully packaged in a sensible box with airholes and some damp cloth underneath to keep them hydrated and stuff... Not this time!

Some orchids are expensive, yeah, but most of them are actually really tough! I've had much better luck with them than any other flowering plant I've tried. Orchid people are just REALLY INTO orchids and want to protect their babies, LOL.

Haha, TIL! Sometimes I see them in the shops but I've always been put off because I thought I'd kill them instantly. Maybe I should give one a try!

Nah, the ones you see in shops are likely phals, which are like the easiest orchid ever. Most people overwater them, which makes their roots rot - you gotta let the medium dry out before watering again! Or some people repot them in soil, which will also rot them.

Ah cool, I'm steeeeadily learning how to water plants. I had a lot die from root rot early on but these days I barely water them and they seem to like it.

Most people overwater at the start, then they overcompensate and underwater. I'm still figuring it out, but it does get better. You just have to accept that even the greenest thumbs have left a wake of dead plants behind them. xD

:D

Yeah, my family's full of good gardeners so I wanted to garden to! But I seem to have no natural talent. I like plants a lot but they don't seem to like me. :'(
