Not a poster but I've read there FOREVER, or at least since Brenden days. It used to be incredibly cruel, then improved, then became increasingly woke, then for awhile there were some awesome GC posters who peaked a ton of people. Then new mods banned them all and it's TRA central now. Trans/sexuality posts are always wild.

Anyway, there's a Kehlani post about her coming out as a lesbian and it's exactly what I expected, LOL. "Sexual preference" is everywhere and there's a few posters who are gonna DIE on that hill telling lesbians they're transphobic.

When the summary is better than the fic it summarises

When the summary sounds interesting, but the fic is 80000 words (write under 3k or shoo :P)

"A series of unrelated short stories (500-1k word) set across multiple fandoms" Fuck you, spamcreature.

The sprawling multi-fandom cross-over that tags every single fandom, character, actor, relationship and interaction, so that every fic search is polluted by it. I understand children are basically playing, and I’m fine with that, but for the love of God stop tagging.

Saw a fic with a character wailing, "Shinra have taken Aeris! It's terrible!", after she's taken to the company building during the plate collapse. Sounds sensible enough until you know that the character doing the wailing was Tseng.

Vent: when I write one good line in an otherwise crappy fic, and it's too dependent on the situation to redeploy easily elsewhere.

The fic for my fandom is oversaturated with fluff. I like twisted dark stuff. But no, it's all "they had a lovely evening taking care of some kids and then they had some delicious cake and everyone slept soundly" fuck off that's not a story. And any time there's a list of stuff recommended in a women's space it's the same "here are ten children's shows they're great because nothing bad happens" uuuuuuugh

I want a Spiderman: Homecoming fic in which Peter says yes to joining the Avengers at the end of the movie, and then gradually over the course of months realises that he is basically under house arrest and monitored all the time, and that his normal life is over forever to be replaced with training and scrutiny and proving that he isn’t dangerous. Like, at first he is glad that he is training as a superhero instead of going to normal school, but then starts to realise how permanent and all-encompassing this is, and that Tony Stark was trying to protect him and prove it wasn’t necessary. I want that creeping horror and obliviousness.

But all that gets written is “omg smol peter is sad and tony star is dad” and creepy sex stuff. And so much that isn’t apparently about sex, except clearly it’s all some weird fetish.

Not really a vent because I find it hilarious, but the way my fandom woobifies the main character still gets me after 10+ years of reading and writing fic. "He joined the army, but he's afraid of blood! What will he do?" That was never a thiiiiiing! But it is funny in a OOC AU sort of way, which is most of my fandom anyway (maybe every fandom?).

This is probably the only place I can complain about this without getting frozen. Ugh, I was 60K into this fic and mostly liking it--not the best written but interesting plot/character beats that I wanted to follow through--until blammo, the author transed a 6 year old. Fuck you, I'm out. (Of course it's not tagged.) Author also "ackshully sexuality is fluid-ed" away the canon-gay into being attracted to women so I shoulda seen it coming. (Also not tagged, tagged as canon-compliant.)

Holy shit, WHAT? Why on God's green earth would you need to trans a 6 year old in a fic?

I actually ran across a much milder version of this yesterday...really hot f/f, written by a woman who's actually turned on by it (most explicit f/f is not this, lol)...and she's gotta throw in the main character wearing a binder and wanting a dick. Like, I realize that there are lesbians like this IRL. But it's totally OOC and I just wanted hot porn, not ~adventures in dysphoria.

I'd just started posting again, then lost all my motivation again as my fandom was all "fuck radfems". Now I don't feel like writing for that audience. Maybe I should try to find fandoms that overlap with meme so I can write for a different crowd.

Everytime I see articles written by a famous fanwriter who has a whole history of fandom drama, I can't take them seriously. I just think about everything that person has done and go "Why would I fucking trust your take on anything."

Someone said that this fandom's canon straight couple is "queering heterosexuality" in 100% seriousness oh my goddddd. Because the guy is kind of nervous and physically weak and the girl is grumpy and wears combat boots? Is that it? (She's not even a tomboy or anything, she's always depicted wearing a dress. She's also mentally unstable, so their relationship is also pretty normative in that the male character is protective and has to take care of her, so like...what r u even on about.)

I'm pretty sure most everyone in this fandom is a TRA because...well, it's fandom, and the creator is a TRA, but it's so small and dead most of the time that I got used to not seeing this bullshit =(
