Got a WIP you're excited about? Want to rave about your fave? Or is your fandom absolutely in love with a character who detracts from every scene they bumble into, and you need somewhere to vent? You're in the right place!

I like BTS and I'm getting to know Olivia. There's room for everyone (except Demi Lovato. She sucks).

Demi goes by they now instead of she. I know they're annoying but, for the sake of other users who choose they/them pronouns, respecting their pronouns is worth the courtesy.

For some reason, I can't edit my comment in this post (but can in others). Thanks for noting. I don't follow her enough to have remembered this.

Date: 2021-06-04 04:24 am (UTC)Although this just reminds me, there aren't enough eye-rolls in the world to express how I feel every time I see someone reply to a comment about Demi Lovato (or Courtney Stodden or whoever's recently come out as NB) with something like, "Just so you know, they use they/them pronouns! I know they're annoying, but misgendering is wrong <3" and then the OP is like, "Omg I'm soooo sorry for being offensive and ignorant, editing my post right now!!! Thank you for educating me!!" like...love urself, OP.

Date: 2021-06-04 06:35 am (UTC)My view on they/them is basically that if we accept the premises that they/them belongs to a specific identity and that misgendering is bad, then we shouldn't be using singular they as a neutral term.
Accepting this use case of they/them is essentially the claim it connects to a specific gender identity. If so, then everytime I refer to someone with they/them without knowing their pronouns, I'm still rolling the misgendering dice.

Date: 2021-06-04 04:03 pm (UTC)Lmao how awful. I once met an enby at a meetup who went by “critter” and I died of embarrassment for her.
