Hah, an article in the fandom world, or an article in the publishing world in general? Because I do think one reason vox et al are so shit is that some of the most incredibly wanky fanwriters went over there to start their professional careers. Part of my peaking was noticing a bunch of names that were already notorious in fandom cited as authorities.

Publishing world and I like that you said Vox because yes, the fanwriter I'm thinking about went there and I've never been able to take stuff that comes out of Vox seriously. Much less seeing these people cited as authorities. I'm always going - sure, except I remember when you started fanwank over that shitty take of yours am I really supposed to trust you now.

"Emily" is possibly even worse than Aja, but only because "Emily" has more social capital. I don't think Aja disingenuously whining about feeling "unsafe" re: Matt Yglesias signing the Harper's letter would have led to MattY peacing out from a place he co-founded. (Glad he did, though. He's much more entertaining without the Vox constraints.)

The only upside with "Emily" is that since he's a man I feel much more content to mock him. I prefer to mock men whenever possible, and he makes it easier.
