Date: 2021-06-08 04:17 pm (UTC)That's how I've always seen tarot, TBF, so I upvoted. I've never seen it as a magical divination tool, but sort of a free interpretation prompt to make sense of your intuitions and what you feel/believe but might not be transparent to you.
In that respect it's been helpful to me when seeking clarity on some big decisions I struggle to make.

Date: 2021-06-08 05:23 pm (UTC)Like, I totally view tarot the way you do, but I learned from people who absolutely did not view it this way, and I think there's room for different perspectives. If you make your living teaching tarot, I absolutely understand why you might not want to conceptualize it as "I'm just super intuitive and a great storyteller" and would prefer a woo-woo story.

Date: 2021-06-08 05:46 pm (UTC)That's fair, and I did learn/work with people who are more heavily steeped in occult traditions than I am. I'm happy to allow that we approach these things differently, and I think it's a pity that they get shouted down for it.
I do admit I'm a tad too science-based to accept that story, but it's how they practice, and I don't see anything wrong with that.

I think it has to be possible to express complete skepticism, but that doesn't need to be in every space and people should respect boundaries. But if someone goes on a general chat and starts talking about the forces of the universe, I think people should be free to say "nah". And I get tired of that kind of stuff being pushed in women's spaces specifically. Same way any women's health group immediately attracts people who want to sell "alternative medicine". I hate how in so many spaces there's pressure to be positive about it when nobody expects men to pretend to believe in shit they don't believe in or cheer it on.
