For me, the worst part of the novel was where, toward the end, the main character suddenly decided out of nowhere to get revenge by forcing the villain to remove his own teeth. Which, admittedly, is quite a big way for a book to go off the rails. Revenge made sense, in the context, but why teeth? Came out of nowhere. And it was presented like she just thought it was the obvious thing to do. Meanwhile, I was there like "Oh, so the main character is a hardcore torturer now? ok i guess bit random tho." The book had only just revealed that she was a vigilante killer-of-rapists. Escalated quickly...

Yeah, and at the end, at his funeral, his mum's just like "oh yeah lol I used to tear his teeth out with pliers as a punishment sometimes, good on you for keeping up the discipline". I guess it was intended as a villain origin story but I was mostly like "why the sudden focus on teeth?? There was nothing about teeth for the first 99% of the book!"
