I really love all the readalongs and other media liveblogging we get on danspace. Mad Honey was especially memorable because of the sheer lampoonability of it all, but it's fun just to follow along with people's reactions, especially when it's to something I'd probably never look at on my own.

Winter Exchange is a great tradition. I don't usually do exchanges because I'm allergic to deadlines and have a chronic case of commitment issues, so I appreciate how chill and forgiving it is.

Kudos to the artdans who occasionally pop up when inspiration strikes. I still treasure katamari penguincy greatly.

Anyways, I just want to thank you all for being around. Some thoughts are so private that you only share them with yourself or an unknown number of anonymous folks who all go by the name 'Dan.'

I like how often danspace catches me off guard and makes me laugh. Hilights off the top of my head include Cello Janai and the pic of the bulbasaur-ivysaur-venusaur evolutionary sequence. And, of course, our seals!

I also like that we have a distinct culture that doesn't seem to me to be too much like anywhere else on the net. Hits the right balance of "not giving a fuck" and "putting an inexplicable amount of effort into very niche things" for me. Everyone's chill AF until some innocuous subject comes up and suddenly there are like 30 posts going "I HATE pears! Pointless fucking fruit!" like the citrusfucking-propagandists we all are.

(This is reminding me that at some point I really need to go back to the many comments I meant to reply to but then forgot about...)

Shared the link to danspace with a few posters on the recent fandom thread on the Big O. Hopefully some of them like us enough to assimilate into the danmind.

I can now procrastinate more on making a proper advertising post there. My job here is done.

I feel like it's a little awkward to advertise danspace as a fandom-oriented site when in reality, we mostly talk about soup and puzzles and only discuss fandoms in very generalized, intentionally unidentifiable ways, but that's just a natural consequence of being a small community that gravitates towards small fandoms. Not a lot of fannish overlap.

But as they say - if you build it they will come, and all that.

There was initially more fandom-talk, tbf, I think a bunch of us just got too alienated by fandom. xD I know I've more or less ditched mine at this point.
