I guess this is either venting or weirdness. I don't understand why the Big O finds men in dresses problematic. Like ok I get the bit about not wanting to be some dude's fetish prop, but at the same time that feels like reverse TRA territory to me. It's like telling TERFs to DNI or not to enjoy whatever. Like you legit can't stop people. Maybe you can legally enforce egregious cases but trying to police people's internal states is just Tumblr fandom stupidity to me and I really wish we'd stop engaging in it just because the other side is doing it.

I think there are edge cases (I remember that guy who worked at a funeral parlour). But my main thought is "who cares how men dress, most of them suck however they're dressed". (Though I am wary of men who play dress up at this point because they seem to be the angriest men there are, but that's not a problem with dressing up per se, and I'm sure terrible men will get themselves a new hobby in due course.)

Yeah I agree about edge cases but also basically shitty men gonna shit. I just don't really care to make rules based on what's got to be in men's mental states because that's a real pain to work out. Sure if they're doing clear fetishist stuff then probably, but - edge cases.

I suppose to just say it directly: I am fundamentally ok with people (but in this case, men) being shitty and I accept I can't control the fact they're gonna have shitty thoughts and I don't care to try training them out of it.

That's ... expensive, but not as expensive as I thought it would be, honestly. I could pay for that, in theory. I wouldn't because that's a stupid amount of money to spend on a three-day cruise that doesn't even go anywhere, but it's feasible for me, a boring person with a boring life.

Anyways, what this guy didn't realize is that you can't buy your way into being cool. Not with the kind of money you and I have, at least. If you try, you're just going to trap yourself on a boat with a bunch of people who have the tiniest bit of ego from being able to invite themselves to events with cash, and the first thing they're going to want to do is put down an easy target. That's just what you've signed up for. Doesn't matter how woke they are; they're all the same.

Hah, yes, I thought it was funny, though not really surprising, that they advertised it as this invite-only exclusive event and then sold tickets for 5 grand! My dreamwidth locked posts are more exclusive than that. I assumed this sea thing worked in tiers: people who were invited to come for free (the celebs advertised. They're prolly encouraged to make a "donation", but I bet they're there because Free Party Cruise!), people who were invited but were expected to pay (suckers) and hangers-on who hadn't been invited but offered to pay (saddos). Oh, and the secret tier: people who attend for free and are not celebrities: staff. Learn how to steer a cruise ship, and you, too, could be deemed worthy of spending three whole days in the presence of Thought-Leaders! Or get a job as cleaning staff. Don't let them notice your presence, ghostlike, forbidden...
