Absolutely awed by how thick some people are. There's a place in our building where people leave things they're giving away, for other people to help themselves. Guy in the building is moving out. He put small boxes of his stuff in the place where people give things away. People have thus taken some of his things from his boxes. Now he's mad about it. It's not even like he didn't know people used the spot for that; HE HAS LEFT STUFF THERE TO GIVE IT AWAY BEFORE.

HOW do you get that thick. How.

Whenever I see people in a position of influence doing inexplicable things with great conviction, I assume they are timetravellers from the future and in some way they are averting much worse disaster, but of course they cannot explain this to anyone around them.

I assume Musk is killing Twitter before some great disaster caused by a confluence of people in power assuming it represents the Voice of the People, critical services using it as infrastructure for public communication, bad actors, and AI.

I do think no twitter is better for society. Though mastodon is even more of a radicalisation chamber, so wide adoption of that would be worse. I hope this doesn't give it a boost.

Maybe he's trying to force journalists to do their job? Bit harder to make an article that's 100% links to tweets if nobody can read them. I can believe he does actually want to make people Go Outside, lol (albeit in a tesla). Not sure it can be done, but timing it to coincide with reddit blackouts could be intentional.

Shower thought: I usually think of people claiming they're "systems"/"multiples" as pathologising imagination (when not just bullshitting). But, what if internet has actually affected inner landscapes a bit? Rapid fire exposure to many contradictory opinions leads to ability to simulate discussions; may not have precedent of exposure at that scale/speed on so many subjects. Getting easier to hop between worldviews? (Does a fixed one offer cognitive comfort? Is that the appeal of socjus?) Are more people feeling they have fractured personalities in a way that was less common a few decades back? Or do I underestimate previous levels of info-bombardment? Obv I wouldn't call it "systems" etc, but maybe there's also new thing going on that's a bit more subtle than that, mental mutation... Hm. The voices we hear in our heads are the voices we hear around us. If the stimulus changes, I'd expect the response to change. We read books, our brains echo books; we read online comments... well. So where someone 100 years ago might hear narration, which might be one consistent voice, someone today might hear imaginary twitter threads, which automatically imply more voices...

Sitting outside cafe. A very small, very fluffy dog hurried by, with a businesslike air, made a sharp turn, and trotted into the cafe. It reappeared a few minutes later, shook itself, and departed. I assume it asked "Croissant pour moi?"

As an opening salvo on a dating app, I asked this man if he had any book or podcast recommendations.

His responses in order (with my commentary):

- The Martian (okay...)
- Ready Player One (uh-oh...)
- Where the Crawdads Sing (sighhhh)
- "if you like sex and romance ... all three fifty shades of grey" (nonononono - there are SO MANY good romance novels out there and you go for this crap?)

He is very good looking. I guess that's where he gets the confidence to flaunt his shit taste. Should I just unmatch him or say something slightly snarky and watch how he reacts ... hmmm....

A place I used to work has a dedicated troll ex-employee. He trashes the company on every platform he can find, makes blogs, videos. He's been doing it for about 8 years. Every so often I check if he's got a new one out because I find them funny. The company ignore him because they think he wants the attention of a lawsuit.

I'm really pleased that David Tennant has gone aggro TRA. I've been complaining that he cannot fucking act for FOREVER, while everyone around me insists that he's great. He can't act! He doesn't empathise! He just pulls silly faces! Stop ✨~gaslighting~✨ me!

It's been like 20 years at this point of me being the lone Tennant-critic. MY TIME HAS COME.

Whenever I see someone walking, carrying their pet dog in their arms like a baby, it makes me giggle. Something about the idea of a dog that has got too tired on its walk to get home again under its own steam and needs a human to carry it makes me laugh. Especially if it has short little legs. Dogs go on walks! That's what they do! But I make eye contact with the dog getting chauffeur-service and it's like "eh, the park is a long way..."

Also, saw a goth earlier, walking a dog that was just a cloud of black fluff. I think it was a black pomeranian? It was a great image, anyway.

Went to what I thought was a normal cafe. It looked like it was attached to a business, so I searched it afterward. It was a coworking salon for freelance hairdressers.

Dreamed I lived in a house with 2 kitchens. I kept forgetting which kitchen had the bread and milk. I don't get people who want to have 2 kitchens.

A Pride network I know of has hired a somewhat-famous gc gay man to give a talk on his area of expertise. The Pride network people are transactivists, though not very energetic about it, because they're always years and years behind the times. I don't think they know he's gc. But he's spoken to the media about it before. Will sparks fly?

Had an emotionally tiring day. Nearly made it home before crying about other people’s lives. Very tired. BUT I have made a prawn, pepper, and bamboo shoot madras with cupboard stuff, and now everything is looking up.
