In my bit of the country, men have high voices and women have deep voices, relatively speaking. Went on holiday. The men's voices were much deeper... and all the women were elves. Istg my voice was about 6 octaves lower than theirs. I was like "so this is what soprano singers are like in the wild!". There were women in their fifties who sounded to me like children and I kept doing a double-take when I'd hear a voice first and then see the face it belonged to. Odd experience.
