(It really was a greatest hits sort of a thread; some of them were complaining that the use of "terf" had changed to be used indiscriminately against women (er, no, it's always been a slur used indiscriminately against women; I was aware of that even before I peaked), and then they tied themselves in knots trying to get to a sensible position within a framework that made no sense. Apparently people on twitter were saying that the statement "lesbians aren't attracted to men" was terfy, and the ffa crowd were upset at this, while simultaneously basically agreeing with the TRAs (stuff like "lesbians aren't attracted to men, tw aren't men, so how can that be terfy, unless they're saying tw aren't women, then they're the terfs!!!"). Top minds of fandom.)

Did they eventually freeze it or nuke it, or did they let the drama and knot-tying continue? I miss FFA, but I don't miss that aspect of FFA. (Come on, other women of fandom, peak already.)

Last I looked, someone had called the mods, but the thread hadn't been locked at that point. I didn't stick around to see what happened next, though; was exhausting just glancing at it! I was visiting because I felt nostalgic but then it was a wall of "oh yeah, I DON'T miss this". Then I went on tumblr and there was wank over Good Omens and somehow radfems were to blame for all the world's ills again.

(Though it turned out good for me tbh; made me wander the internet where I found a small forum where a man was ranting because he'd ordered an oud but the luthier's friend had pinched it before he could pay. A fan of the luthier couldn't handle seeing his hero criticised, so started accusing the customer of racism. Now that's the kind of niche forum drama I'm here for.)

Hah! Nothing exciting, I'm afraid. It was the old "someone said it was queerbaiting" thing. My fingers have aged 1000 years just typing that much, and now I have skeletal hands, click-clack.

Supposedly the plot of the sequel is one that Gaiman and Pratchett came up with together ages ago, so I mean ... it's sort of unlikely that it will be very shippy.
