NA barging in here to say that I DO like Good Omens and was an old-school book fan who thought the show was great! And enjoyed the active fandom even if some of the characterizations were...off! Until even other fucking Crowley/Aziraphale fic became slash in name only, because AZIRAPHALE ALWAYS HAD A FUCKING VAGINA. JUST WRITE HET IF YOU WANT PIV THAT BADLY, YOU FUCKERS, JFC.

Ahem. Anyway, it pissed me off and I had to be EXTREMELY careful when complaining about it on FFA because you know why. But it pretty much ruined the fandom for me.

Aw, I'm glad you got to experience your fandom getting massive like that! :D I didn't hate it or anything, I liked the book and liked much of the show, just couldn't match everyone else's level of enthusiasm.

I suppose you could write comedy pining meta about aziraphale and crowley both secretly searching for sexy slashfic featuring themselves and getting mad at the same thing.

It was such a weird fandom because Neil Gaiman was always so...odd about accepting the slash fandom. Like I understood why he didn't want to say YES THEY ARE GAY MEN because PTerry died and the characters were kinda based on them, but I felt he went too far the other way, into gender woowoo land. And regardless if they're sexless angels, presenting as men for thousands of years...IDK, man, the whole vagina characterization didn't work for me. xD

I apparently need to sleep because when I saw 'vagina characterization', I pictured the vagina as having its own, distinct character. Aziraphale, Crowley, and... a vagina voiced by Gilbert Gottfried? I don't know
