House of Leaves is on my to-read pile, because it was recommended loads. But thinking about it, everyone who recommended it to me was a dick and/or couldn't write. So now I'm wondering. Is it any good?

I haven't read it, but I keep wondering the same thing. Seems to be a love it or hate it thing, especially with the weird structure. And people say it either gave them nightmares or wasn't scary at all. I'd just dive into it, but the thing is so damn long it gives me pause.

Yeahhh, it's the length putting me off, too. A long book by a male author; it's a risk...
