Just watched 6 episodes of Citrus. It was a mistake. It was really stupid, but not in the so-stupid-it's-great manner of Skip Beat or something; just felt like a load of stock characters groping each other with a plot scribbled out in 3 minutes.

Should've put this in the overhyped bullshit thread, oops. Anyway yeah idk if the Citrus manga is as male-gazey but the anime felt tailored to men, in a way that's difficult to describe but... you know it when you see it? The pacing was off and characters just did stuff at random. I saw it got some criticism for the groping but personally I wouldn't have cared if they'd been tonally consistent with it; it might have worked as a dark thing if they'd kept one character predatory and the other confused by her feelings over it. But instead there's no consistency, it's just odd and characters' emotions fluctuate bizarrely from scene to scene. And there isn't even all that much smut; instead it's mostly annoying side-characters you have to fast-forward through. The characters are pretty but that's about all it's got going for it.
