A space to chat fandom! Anon!

Got a WIP you're excited about? Want to rave about your fave? Or is your fandom absolutely in love with a character who detracts from every scene they bumble into, and you need somewhere to vent? You're in the right place!

Lol, just saw a FFA thread where a bunch of anons were trying to criticise that book by a man who really wants to not be a man and thinks stealing things for women will help him get there. They were indulging him (of course) so had to dance around the obvious 'the author writes like a man'. There's a class of people who can't write dialogue and believable characters for shit. It's men. Remember that 2 minute window when you could criticise them?

I don't get how people who claim to love language can be fine with censoring themselves and tying themselves in knots like this. Once you can't express yourself honestly, you can't write at all.

I knowwwww, it was the books thread constantly trying to suck up to TP (LOL those initials) that made me snap and complain on ovarit. They're so fucking terrified to criticize ANYTHING about the book/author because that might be WRONG and HURTFUL. I am this close to illegally downloading a copy to hate-read just so I can see if it's as bad as the excerpts make it seem, but I still have bad memories of Whipping Girl, which genuinely made me feel, like...emotionally dirty, at a soul-deep level.

Do eeeet! (Tho easy for me to say, I get more offended by seeing bad writing praised than the actual content... Tho I did get very creeped out when I realised the effects that society going with Serano's arguments would have on kids (not read whipping girl but read excerpts; spent a while on Serano's website when I was trying to find some way to make gender-ideology mesh with... literally anything sensible. Nope, futile endeavour.)) I kinda want to read DB but I don't want to give him money and I resent the idea of his words taking up space in my brain when he hasn't done anything to earn a place there. So I feel like, if I'm gonna read it, I should at least make sure to read 10 excellent women first. I love hatereadalongs, anyway, first got into ffa because they were hatereading Anger Is A Gift... So if you do do it, please write it up! :D

Oh, ick. The excerpts I saw on twitter were truly vile. Save your brain!

I saw at least a couple of GCs/radfems arguing on twitter that it's well-written, which like...having seen the quotes from it, I really can't imagine that? Would love to know your reaction if you can stomach it!
