Having done both, I think my answer is the whole cardamom pod. There's less surface area for the taste to spread (especially since the pod can get in the way, too) and I find cardamom more appealing than cinnamon at that level of intensity. My coworker also agrees with me.

My other coworker, who eats raw cinnamon sticks for fun, is a statistical anomaly and should not be counted.
