Was just telling partner about The Lost Bookshop (Evie Woods), "oh yeah, that was shit. Plus one of the love interests was a literal nazi, so there was that." Partner incredulous; I tried to find mention of it on goodreads; nothing! Was I going mad??? Retrieved the shit book and looked through it-- yep, Josef is a blond-haired blue-eyed nazi! When asked why he's been in the german army in 1941 up in an aeroplane in a nazi uniform doing nazi things, he just says he didn't have a choice, and the book moves on like it's nothing, treating him as a kind of benevolent elf for the female lead; he fetches her firewood and gifts and becomes her forever boyfriend, while I squint at the page stuck in a loop of "but that's a fucking nazi, though! Why the fuck was the author into this??!!"

Anyway yeah nobody on goodreads thought it was notable that the love interest in this Cozy Romance Novel was a fucking nazi. I despair.

Oh! Goodreads not so bad, search glitching. Some people have indeed asked why tf there was a nazi love-interest who suddenly popped up near the end of the book.
