Re: Fooooooooooooooooooood - Fishventures
Date: 2025-11-20 08:09 am (UTC)Tried this moqueca recipe with chilipepper rockfish, but I skipped pre-cooking the fish in favor of simply poaching it in the stew at the end and added prawns, diced carrots, and shallots. Not sure how I feel about the prawns, but the carrots really added some much-needed texture to the stew since everything else is kind of squishy.
This ended up being one of the most time-consuming recipes I've cooked. I'd like to submit the following corrections to the given estimates:
> Prep Time: 20 minutes
> Can Opening: 20 minutes
> Holding Can of Coconut Milk over Stove until the Cream Softens Enough to Pour: 10 minutes
I rarely used canned anything (and most of my cans have easy-open tabs), but it's no longer tomato season so canned tomatoes it was. Turns out my previous roommate stole my can opener and left some deranged monstrosity in its stead that I have no idea how to use, and there's a dearth of information on the internet about different can opener types and how to use them. 'Place the circular cutting wheel on the can,' the internet says. There's no circular cutting wheel! There's just three different stabby things and I have no idea which one is supposed to stab the can! Never felt so incompetent in the kitchen in my life.
