Re: How's Life? - Filia 2025
Date: 2025-10-12 05:53 pm (UTC)> some performative crying with informationless complaints about requests for information
I need to know more about this, lmao
Re: How's Life? - Filia 2025
Date: 2025-10-12 07:31 pm (UTC)Crying about vague, underdescribed situations in which they make claims and then white women ask them to explain what they mean or give some examples so they can help, and that this is unreasonable because they might not be able to write or might have poor English skills. In the context of working at a professional level with professional charities. A lot of crying and talking about how unfair this is. But then waving around two sides of closely written A4 and saying everyone should take a copy, with a slightly bitter comment about “here’s your information”. The paper says that the DCR is very violent, and balkanising it is bad, and also how dare the UK promote democracy when this is going on. I felt like there was a difference in communication styles, possibly cultural.
Possibly-spy Sudanese woman said that Egypt would be the next country to collapse into division in a couple of years, though, so that will be interesting to see if it’s true.
Re: How's Life? - Filia 2025
Date: 2025-10-12 07:46 pm (UTC)I recall Egypt was apparently messing around trying to interfere with the Israel-Hamas ceasefire talks this week (not clear why; sounded like maybe they just really wanted to be involved because Historical -_-). Beyond that, I've no idea how things are going over there. I was under the impression people weren't very keen to revolt any time soon, given how the Arab Spring went.
Also yeah in general I've noticed western countries do have a tendency to act like installing Democracy can only ever be better than what already exists. I think it's all talk for a domestic audience and they do understand on the ground that it can be More Complicated Than That. But I can see how that talk would be very annoying if you were worried that any perceived weakness in Dictatorship 1 was going to usher in Dictatorship 2: Worse Dictatorship.

Date: 2025-10-12 09:25 pm (UTC)Sounds very "Educate Yourself!" *flounces*. Which makes sense if one of their directors has been a Head Of DEI. I doubt it's a cultural difference between countries, though might be a cultural difference between "rich person used to being given anything they want" and "system that requires everyone to follow the rules"...
