I think I had an allergic reaction to something I ate. It's minor - I have swelling on my face, but it's going down with a bit of cortisone cream - but I've never had an allergic reaction before and I'm freaking out.

I don't think I ate anything I don't usually eat, either. I really hope I didn't develop a shrimp allergy overnight.

Might possibly be a seasoning? I know someone who's allergic to smoked salmon, but not salmon in general, so presumably is some chemical they smoke it with. They spent a while avoiding fish before they discovered they were not actually allergic to salmon.

Yeah, I grabbed the full ingredients list of what I ate but I'm not seeing anything I don't use normally. Best bets are shrimp (it's been six or so months since I last ate shrimp) or stevia extract (which apparently has similarities to ragweed pollen).

If I developed a salmon allergy I think I might just resign myself to a life of living with constant inflammation and hives.

Update: Got an allergy screen, confirmed that I'm allergic to absolutely nothing. Apparently I'm slightly sensitive to lobster, but lobster in this economy? C'mon.

Haven't had an allergic reaction since, so I guess this'll remain a mystery forever. It's probably some hyperspecific thing like my friend who was apparently allergic to cold water from one particular location.

Posssibly you had a cold and the immune reaction manifested weirdly? I think this is a thing that can happen.
