Color's probably fine. That shade of dull red-orange looks good on me, but the model's hair is doing the dress no favors because it's too close in color. You really need some contrast to break up the expanse of it all or you get that furniture skirt effect.

I'd probably want to see it in a midi length and then throw a cropped jacket over it, but that's a pretty different vibe from whatever that first picture is trying to emulate.
