Rejected from more writing compos. These weren't my best work, just what I had ready to go, so I wasn't that sad, but made mistake of reading some previous winners; wtf_is_this_shit.jpg. So then consoled myself reading blogposts from various "the lit world is fucked"-type commentators. :p If people can *see* that the praised stuff is bad, I feel much less bad.

Also found it interesting how one commentator said that basically all the good new writers had gone into TV instead of novels, because you could actually make a living from TV. Makes sense to me; I'm the type of person who probably would have financed myself through magazine short stories in a previous decade; wasn't a viable way to pay the bills by the time I was old enough to need to pay bills, so I got a job in another industry and just posted fanfic when I wanted to chat lit. Then fandom went nuts, so now I write stories nobody reads. 🤷
