Hahahaha

Partner was keen to make French toast with it.

Me: That's a waste of good croissant loaf. As French toast, none of the croissant-loaf specific properties will be retained. The moisture-absorption means it won't be crispy. The inherent butteriness will be obscured. It will taste like any other bread. This is why, traditionally, you use old, crap bread for French toast.

Partner: NO it will be extra good!

Me: Just don't use too much of it. You're basically just boiling the bread. It'll go spongy.

Partner: You'll see! It will NOT! "Boiling the bread", ridiculous!

My friends, you have never seen such a shifty look on the face of a fellow human being until you've seen a staunch defender of croissant-bread-french-toast poking the spongy mass with a fork. Partner did, at least, *admit* that it was indeed just like any other bread in this form. I said I was always happy to have a scientific, empirical investigation to cite to confirm that I was always right about everything.

(also: this ferocious debate took place over several days, with french toast ingredients surreptitiously appearing in the fridge and partner going to make the french toast like "oooh, tonight I'm going to make the ~forbidden~ dessert", mocking me for not having faith in it, and so on. The climbdown was delicious.)
