The squirrels have killed my blueberry transplants by digging them up. I am frustrated and tempted to buy a BB gun. Am counseled that may be against animal cruelty laws.

I love squirrels. Their tails are so silly.

I'm not a very good gardener and have no useful advice. All these things may be related.

Have you tried a row cover? Can't remember the exact name, but my local garden covers newly planted seedlings with a thin cloth sheet that's weighed down with rocks. Squirrels can probably still dig their way through, but they might be too lazy for that.
