Reading a passage about how the brain prioritises sensory data depending on what it labels a danger, followed by what it considers novel/surprising, and thinking about how this is similar to algorithms that draw videos on the screen on sites like youtube-- iirc they draw based on diffs; rather than refreshing each pixel, they update the ones that have changed (enough), so they can draw faster and eat less bandwidth. Assume we've got some similar thing going on with our own cache.

So now wondering about the effects of damaging the caching mechanism -- would it feel like forgetfulness, or like slower processing speed (because of needing to process more), or would there be too much data to even function? What happens if the caching is too aggressive; do you fail to notice environmental details? Can you manually calibrate the cache?
