I honestly don't know. The author has a degree in classical studies and allegedly landed a seven-figure deal to publish this book. Which is absolutely incredible, because this is the writing level we're talking about:

I'm still only a quarter of the way through! It feels like it's already been multiple lifetimes. The next arc is the obligatory Magic School (Evil) arc, and there's so many random characters and inexplicable infodumps that I can't figure out what's even worth summarizing and what's just bloat.
