I love the idea I can just buy time off work. Going to go to my boss tomorrow and offer her twenty bucks so I can have Friday off.

Funnily enough, I have actually had a job where you could buy days off as a benefit! but I've only ever seen that at that job, and it was good for 3 days a year, and you had to buy the (pricey) days in advance each December. You couldn't just get some cash off a competition and go to your manager like 's'up?', halfway through the year. The idea that you'd take the princely sum of £2000 to your manager and turn it into enough time off work to write a novel is pretty funny. Made me feel like they'd read somewhere about people buying leave without knowing how that worked...

(you 'buy' the days off by sacrificing salary. so that 2k could compensate you for days you'd already bought, but you couldn't use it to buy new days any time soon!)

but yeah, I assume they're like "2000 is about a month's salary, isn't it, on a low wage? so if we give them 2000, they've got a month out to work on their novel!" :'D
