Is this the poster who blockquotes entire articles with long passages of rambling commentary? I always thought she was just an overly-enthusiastic oversharer, but frankly I black out two paragraphs into any of her posts so I can't really speak to whatever she's going on about.

Ah, yes, almost certainly the same one then, I refer to her internally as "the racist $bird woman" and it's become a running joke in things I write whenever a character is idly browsing the internet and seeing depressing stuff, "the racist $bird woman was at it again".

As a $bird woman myself I hope I have a cooler identifying adjective. I'd prefer 'illustrious' but I'll settle for 'infuriating.'

I think of penguins as mammals, so if you're penguin-dan, you're alright, though may perhaps be outraged to lose your $bird classification.

Yeah, that's her. She reminds me of my mother, who goes on the same kind of rambling diatribes that hit every Fox News talking point you can think of, even though she's never watched Fox News in her life. Wouldn't be surprised if she's a plant, but at the same time, there are a decent number of women who are genuinely like this, and the Big O is a place where this kind of behavior is not only accepted but appreciated.

It's the consistency that gets me. It's a bizarre dedication to the sound of one's own voice. Most people have things to do. Posting the rants every so often, sure, but she seems to treat it like a job.

I think this is why I don't log in to the Big O anymore. I wish we would stop being weird about Muslims and I wish we would stop sounding positively insane about the LGB and I see why it's offputting to o/lesbians because it sure as shit puts me off.

I guess I'm not neutral because I live in a Muslim country, which is the most I'll say to be safe, but I swear we're more functional than some others who shall not be named.

I was already worried that my attempts at pushing back on racists there were just functioning as a figleaf for them, and every visit would leave me depressed, so I was already distancing; then oct 7th; I have Muslim and Jewish extended family; I decided I did not want to read the takes on there and never visited again.
