Saw this recipe and I'm dying to try it. Unfortunately am home for the holidays and banned from the kitchen until I get back to my apartment, but it's coming.

I like to imagine this is in order to perform an ode to the cake.

If it turns out as good as it looks, it'll definitely deserve an ode. There's also a loaf pan cheesecake recipe I want to try but I can only eat so many baked goods without growing horizontally.

original replying dan -- I did actually make it yesterday! It is quite good, especially with the recommended salted caramel sauce. Slicing all the apples took like a half hour (and I didn't even peel them) so I'm not sure if it'll replace apple pie in my repertoire, but it is very tasty.

Oh and if you do make it in the recommended tin, I would reduce the recipe by one third. I ended up splitting the batter between two different loaf pans because there was so much!

Finally got around to making the invisible apple cake. Slicing and arranging the apples took one whole TV show episode, and like the other dan who tried this recipe out, I also couldn't be bothered to peel them. Had two different apple colors, though, so I was getting picky about getting the colors evenly distributed.

Recipe was just the right size for my loaf pan, but I hand-cut all the apple slices and a lot of the loose ends and smaller pieces ended up in my stomach instead of in the batter.

Probably wouldn't make this again except for special occasions because of how long it took, but my mother has a very similar lazy man's apple pie recipe that's pretty similar (less sugar, more yogurt). If I can remember where she stashed it I'll probably share.
