Can't promise this is interesting to anyone but me.

Writing a thing involving some fictional businesses; became distracted by q of where they sat with laws on anticompetitive practices. Read around and this made me laugh:

"Here's a product. Please sell it for us. We can't tell you how much we recommend it should cost, and you can't tell us how many you're selling, or under what circumstances. We're just going to drop our products into a black hole and hope for the best."

I assume the people writing the proposals got there from trying to think what was best from the end customer's pov, assuming that max isolation between competitors was always best and would end up making things cheapest, while forgetting that in this case the supplier and retailer's fortunes depend on each other? but lol.

Not actually related to the context, but I work in advertising and sometimes 'we're just going to drop our products into a black hole and hope for the best' seems to be exactly what our clients are doing. Sometimes they ask us to make up some nice-looking metrics so they can demonstrate value to their bosses, and that's about it.
