I’m on the mailing list for ‘Woolovers’, because they were the only place I could get a supersoft woollen cableknit jumper, and it makes me smile because the target audience is so clearly reasonably well-off old ladies. The men’s jumpers are also clearly designed to be bought by wives, and so I get mailings that say things like, “a big softy inside and out” with a photo of an attractive but non-threatening-looking man with a light beard wearing a brightly-coloured jumper with a button shirt and cords, perhaps sitting in a nice garden or looking vaguely like he might be interested in farming but probably did some more executive job before retiring early.

I really can't unsee Woo Lovers. But also, reasonably well-off old ladies are a demographic who need to be catered to so I appreciate this.
