This language course (I am being thematic) says it aims to teach you language to use “in some situations regularly encountered at work, educational settings, leisure centres and while travelling abroad.”

Of course: the four main settings every language learner is concerned with.

Friend suggests they might have meant something more like "leisure activities" when they said "leisure centre", so like watching TV and films in foreign languages, etc. Sounds like a plausible mixup to me, but then if so, I wonder whether they're the best people to be teaching language...
