It's one thing if mankind is hunted to extinction by ChatGPT, but I really do object to being executed by Bing.

Super famous, but I've never read it! Been meaning to read her for ages. Idgaf about the Tudors but my friend recommends her, so looks like I'm getting some Tudors in my life.

My copy is from the library. The cover is a bit... sticky. I assume somebody has eaten many biscuits while reading. I'm hoping this will motivate me to finish it fast (well, REALLY, I hope the text does that job :p).

It's a longer book than I like to read, atm. Takes me ages to read anything. But I'm finally giving it a go!

What I maybe know about this book: RPF about Anne Boleyn and family. Has a big fandom, considering.

Cover: "Twice Winner of the Man Booker Prize"

I assume this refers to the author, and not the book. Then again, I've seen the Man Booker selection some years; can't blame them if they went back for a known winner.

I prefer not to read book blurbs, and go in blind. There is a Tudor rose on the front.

I opened it. Cast of characters, including: "The Seymour family at Wolf Hall". Oh. Oops. I guess it's Jane Seymour RPF, not Anne Boleyn RPF. Am off to a great start.

2 chapters in. I'm finding the style more casual than expected. I thought it was going to be more literary. Am relieved.

This book requires a lot of political-reading-between-the-lines, and I have to do too much of that already. I'm hoping it doesn't stress me out too much as it goes on and gets increasingly cutthroat.

I'm finding the way she writes dialogue a bit confusing. It's not always clear who's speaking. She'll just say "he" in a context where everyone is a he, or she'll jump forward 20 years in time without indicating it, and it'll only become clear after a few lines of dialogue. In my projects, I tend to go to the opposite extreme, overusing names to the point things are stilted, but this book is making me feel justified.

Currently (I'm up to page 88), I find this depiction of Anne Boleyn very relatable, and am worried that means I'm gonna end up decapitated one day. :0

Did laugh at her acknowledgement that everyone in this book is called Thomas. She can't do anything about that, but we've got at least 4 Thomases (Cromwell, Wolsey, More, Boleyn). I'm sure there'll be many more! Everyone else is called Harry or Henry.
