It's one thing if mankind is hunted to extinction by ChatGPT, but I really do object to being executed by Bing.

Interview with Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on writing in the current political climate.

Really loved the analogy about people acting like they're "taking their medicine" when reading African lit. Yessss, I hate that.

Writing something that hinges on a gay character being attracted by an opposite-sex character, except the gay character is still gay, so nothing happens.

Hopefully, enough time has passed that I might not get cancelled for this kind of fanfic.

I wrote a silly thing that had that as an arc, but then I didn't care about being cancelled, but then I decided I didn't want any cancellatious people to get to enjoy it, so I locked it away from them anyway. xD lmk how it goes!

User on the big O is calling for detrans/desisted women's poetry for a collection. Idk anything about her, so don't take this as an endorsement, but figured I'd mention it here in case it was of interest to anyone.

> What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?

Reminds me of how JJWXC, one of the more popular webnovel publishing sites in China, mandates that every story needs to have a 'moral' in the description. I don't think people write funny ones much nowadays, but it's still finally checking them out for stories with titles like 'Reincarnated as a Beautiful Omega' (moral: you must love yourself to better yourself) and 'When a Group of Genshin Cosplayers were Transported into Detective Conan' (moral: don't forgot your true self).

Ugh, if I had to do that I would totally use the field sarcastically or in ways that made no sense. Grindark fic in which everyone dies? "Do your best and you'll always win!" Slice of life? "It is better to race a unicorn than to sprinkle it."

Working on a short story set in a silly world I made up. I introduced the world in an episodic way so that I could write the odd story whenever it struck me. Am feeling pleased about that decision, now.

I'm also wondering if I should write the whole thing in advance, or release chapters as they're done. I almost never finish things if I release them chapter by chapter, which makes me think I should just write it in a clump. Otoh, I did manage it once. I suppose it also doesn't matter that much if this one is never finished.
