"The thing about illegally breeding fire-breathing possums is that you gotta keep a bucket of water handy."

*Those fools! Fire-breathing possums are greasy; water will only feed the flames! Oh, if only I could tell them of my empire...*

I have a long flight next week and I could use some book suggestions for the trip.

This is your chance to make me read whatever your heart desires, but if you want to narrow things down, I like fantasy and I'm picky with sci-fi. The last book I read was probably Brandon Sanderson's The Bands of Mourning and the last book I thought about throwing into an incinerator was Neal Stephenson's Seveneves. I read a lot of webnovel trash instead of actual novels these days.

Body of Glass (Marge Piercy)

Mortal Engines (Philip Reeve)

Been a while since I read either, and the latter is aimed at kids, but they're books I enjoyed more than most.

I personally find game of thrones really great airport reading, but feels redundant to recommend it. ("harry potter is also a good read, if you've heard of that")

The books I tend to most recommend are people's real accounts of living under horrifying totalitarian regimes, so they do not make good airport reading because you would be crying everywhere. Tbh I can't promise you won't be crying at my other recs.

My eternal rec is Emma Bull's Finder. No, you don't need to have read anything else in the universe. A true standalone!

Have you considered just finishing the series and going for The Lost Metal, nonny?
