Hm, I'm not sure; stuff gets caught on my hair very easily and it was fine, so they might have designed it to be slippery somehow. Or maybe I just got lucky. I did keep it zipped up, so the teeth didn't have a chance to get tangled. I have had necklaces in the past that would tangle on my hair if they were so much as mentioned in the same room, so I think it must be better than those, at least. Will experiment later.
