"The thing about illegally breeding fire-breathing possums is that you gotta keep a bucket of water handy."

*Those fools! Fire-breathing possums are greasy; water will only feed the flames! Oh, if only I could tell them of my empire...*

I read the whole Sprawl trilogy and I can't say I remember much from it besides Neuromancer's iconic opening line. Don't really think it's aged that well, but a lot of the appeal is very much the aesthetic and I was never that into cyberpunk in the first place.

You might like Snow Crash better since the writing's a lot snappier. If you're looking for well-written women, though, you're probably not going to find those there either.

I was big into the cyberpunk aesthetic a few years back but transactivists have put me off it a bit, lol. They see a scifi dystopia, they go "cooool! How do we make this real?!!!" like they got their brains hacked by patterns of neon lights. So now when I see someone cyberpunky, instead of thinking "cool!", I think "that's a silly person", but with some affection.

But yeahhh, hard to read this in the way it would've been read when it came out, because it's influenced so much other stuff. I can see it having v different significance for an 80s weeb (and can see how it would create weebs).
