I’m watching Disenchanted. I have clearly become soft, because as everything properly started into misunderstanding and going wrong I just hate it. I appear to have wanted to watch an entire film of them just living their lives with only the most minor of temporary setbacks that they immediately resolve.

Have now also background-watched the dreadful film Godmothered. I spent the first 5 minutes thinking there was something oddly familiar about the performance (and voice) of the Fairy Godmother, not quite Elf but… Then I realised the whole thing is trying to be Enchanted for when you’ve seen Enchanted too many times and want a ‘different’ film. Only in this one, our normie is a woman, and so instead of getting to marry her prince she gets to realise that she is perfectly fulfilled by her children.

Through a series of maybe-not-obvious cognitive jumps this reminded me of how much I haaaaated despicable me 2, so I just went back to see if that scene where they beat the shit out of a woman for the crime of being obnoxious was as bad as I remember, and holy shit, it's worse.
