Another holiday season, another year of me trying desperately to outsource Christmas gift ideas for my mother to other, more qualified people. What do you give the woman who only wants her daughter married and grandkids on the way?

SA. I didn't want to go into too much detail in the OP in case others wanted to share their gift-giving woes.

My mother hasn't meaningfully left the house in about three years and her primary hobby is lamenting that her children aren't getting married and setting me up on blind dates with the shut-in sons of other like-minded parents. I usually end up buying interesting but relatively practical things from local vendors, like decorated flower pots or specialty jams and chocolates. I can tell that's not really what she wants, though. I just can't figure out what she does want.

I'm honestly considering throwing money at the problem and buying something she can show off on social media, like a Hermes scarf. She's not big on brand names, but a lot of the Mothers with Unmarried Children Brigade™ are in-your-face about being wealthy and I know she feels embarrassed when people ask her what her daughter got her for Christmas and she has to say something like 'Well, she got me a tasting set of gourmet flavored vinegar.' Only problem is I'm also not made of money and the designs that are within my budget (~$300) aren't all that great-looking, either. Vintage is also out of the question because of my mother's OCD (which also precludes a lot of other common gift suggestions, like spa trips and skincare).

If anyone has any thoughts, I'll gladly listen to your suggestions. I have been Googling 'gift ideas for mother' for the past month and am very confused about what planet these mothers come from because I can't imagine mine wanting any of these things.

I usually get my mother books. It seems like some form of media (or maybe tech) would be good for someone who spends most of their time indoors. In general suggestions "for mothers" seeem to be things that nooooobody wants.
