Post about fandom! Or whatever! Whether it's a rave about some obscure series, or an essay dissecting every last reason why some internet-famous author should rethink their career, someone will probably read it at some point! We also just chat about life.

What's the purpose of ao3's pseuds feature? I've never understood why you'd bother having a pseud only to then have a page where it's associated with your main... Was it just bc in the early days there were a lot of back-catalogues imported from people who'd written things under different names, but who had associated them since?

That, plus a bunch of people still seem to have different names in different fandoms. Me, I just have a completely detached alt account or two for, in theory, posting all the bad thought things I don't want associated with my regular fandom name.

This shit will probably never leave my drawers, but if it does, I have an account for that.

Basically that. But also because I sometimes do have different names in different fandoms - less because I was security conscious, and more because I wrote on different sites and forums and couldn't always get a preferred username. I imagine some authors are in the same situation.

I know someone who just uses them to organize them by style - one for drabbles, one for serious/long series, one for smut.

That would stress me out. Like what if you wrote a smutty drabble?

Probably file under smut. Seems to me to be the reasonable response given people are more careful about segregating smut as compared to style.
