Post about fandom! Or whatever! Whether it's a rave about some obscure series, or an essay dissecting every last reason why some internet-famous author should rethink their career, someone will probably read it at some point! We also just chat about life.

Never heard of this dude and not going to watch the video to find out but +1000 to your last point. If you're desperate for long lasting lemon juice, freeze some.

Shortish version:

Jack Monroe's a woman who, fwict, pretends to be poor; there has been online drama recently over posts collecting up the inconsistencies (linked upthread). She markets herself as a provider of super cheap recipes and as a poverty campaigner. Her recipes are notorious for being nasty and she's often rattling the patreon jar. She gets aggro at pro tv chefs on twitter and demands to be given the same opportunity to go onscreen, but judging from this show she's not at all qualified. So yeah, her angle is "person who's experienced poverty shows poor people how to make cheap, tasty recipes", but she seems like a middleclass larper who just likes playing victim and picking fights, and the recipes and presentation both suck.

On this show that went out live at the time, she's co-hosting with some celeb chef I don't know called matt. Well, by co-hosting, I mean he's hosting and she's connected via videochat bc she thought she might have a cold (was filmed in mid 2020 tbf). Some vidchat awkwardness is inevitable, but she also doesn't seem to be paying attention, disappears for long chunks of time and hasn't even muted her audio so there's an echo all the way through. The matt guy is carrying the show and looks pissed off and anxious about it (tho am watching on double speed so tbf that makes him look more anxious when he scratches an arm or whatever). Idk anything about him, maybe he's also a dick, who knows, but I feel a lot of sympathy having had coworkers who did fuck-all before-- and I wasn't presenting a national tv show live! It comes across like Jack didn't prep at all and just dropped him in it.

Jack is pro lemon-juice-bottle, Matt is anti. Imo that's all anyone needs to know.

Matt makes a recipe that seems like common sense (ie: make leftover lamb into a broth by adding herbs and stuff), but it looks nice enough; jack is then supposed to make her recipe; jack's feed has disappeared; matt makes jack's recipe. The recipe = a stew of chickpeas, chunks of bread, spinach, garlic, spices. Seems bland from a distance. Not a fan of mushy bread. But at least there were spices, I guess...

Nadiya Hussain is also on the show, briefly, being her glorious self. Her segment is a welcome change from the tension and awkwardness of the rest of it and she makes a nice-looking banana tart.

Some other chef guy shows up and suggests people grow herbs. Size of urban spaces is considered but no mention of how pollution might affect it. I would not want to eat stuff I'd grown every day; I'd prolly end up with 3 eyes by the end of the week.

Given how much of the advice is obvious, I get the impression this is a show intended for very stupid people, so you will not miss much by missing it.
