btw feel free to suggest/nominate post titles

Post about fandom! Or whatever! Whether it's a rave about some obscure series, or an essay dissecting every last reason why some internet-famous author should rethink their career, someone will probably read it at some point! We also just chat about life.

Ironically in Texas most people would be crying about 27 C indoors! Somehow that feels worse than 37 C outside. Do you just not have the A/C systems to handle it or what?

Yeah, A/C in residential spaces is unusual, we don't have any in our building. You normally just buy a plug-in fan if you're bothered. Offices, big shops and some cars have A/C, but generally not homes (I assume it's *possible* but I've never seen it). The buildings also tend to be designed more for cold wet weather than hot weather so I'd guess that adds a few degrees vs warmer countries where aircon is also unpopular but buildings are designed to be shadowy and cool.

I'm reading more about the heatwave situation now (fires, schools closing, etc). Sorry you're going through that mess.

Thanks, it's been fine round where I am but have seen vids of fires elsewhere! The main issue seems to be that our infra isn't designed for it, so they had to stop trains because tracks might buckle, etc.

Over here it's the same problem but in reverse. A bit of ice can cause a total meltdown where people lose electricity and water for days.

Ayrt

We do also seem to freak the fuck out when there's snow. At the first flake, all the schools shut. I suspect the only things we're relatively good with are rains and floods, though we still do get some floods, so... Well, I did say 'relatively'. :P
