Post about fandom! Or whatever! Whether it's a rave about some obscure series, or an essay dissecting every last reason why some internet-famous author should rethink their career, someone will probably read it at some point! We also just chat about life.

Re: Food
Date: 2022-07-11 01:58 pm (UTC)Anyway, today's curio was a box containing two pancakes, about the size of my palm, with bacon and maple syrup. The box was maybe 10cm by 10cm by 5cm.
I was curious about the nutritional value; I'm making a half-assed attempt to track what I eat since I'm a bit overweight, and writing it down is such a hassle that it works as a snacking-deterrent. So I looked at the label, and blinked. 1400 calories! That's like 3 meals! For two tiny pancakes! I know bacon pancakes aren't healthy, but this one is ridiculous! What did they *put* in it?! Did it start life as army rations???

I don't think I'm normally that far off with my guesses, but if you'd asked me to guess with that, I'd've said maybe 500-600. I feel like it shouldn't be legal to sell that without a massive sticker on it like the ones you get on cigarettes. I wondered if it was a typo. Maybe it is. I don't know anything. Now I'm adrift.
I'm like 'do I cook it into thirds and microwave a lone third for dinner sometime?' That sounds like some eating disorder shit. But I don't want to have a day where I eat rubbish microwave pancakes and nothing else. I can split them with a friend, but it'll still be a rubbish food-to-enjoyment ratio, and I'm not sure there's a friend I can convince to join me for this one, anyway. At least the pancakes will live in the freezer in the meantime, so I can ponder it for months...
