I'm sorry, nonny :( Vent here all you want. And honestly that's way too coherent to be called wordvomit.

I've lost friends over not being able to hide my reaction to this nonsense, but I've switched jobs and I'm taking every little cryptic sign as a win. Only half our team has included their pronouns on their profiles! (It's basically all he/hims, which I also find funny. Ever stop to wonder why the 6 women out of 50 might not want to emphasize their sex, dudes ...?)

Radfem online spaces are ... the worst. I still keep in touch with twitter (which seems disproportionately mothers or UK women, so that's not exactly my demographic), but the big O just brings my spirits down too much. The months I spent there were also some of the most negative months of my life -- not entirely due to the website, but the association is too strong now.

This makes me feel better about periodically posting terfery to fb. I'm like 'ugh I must sound like a broken record' since I don't really post on there any more so I only post about that (didn't see why that crowd should enjoy my jokes lol), but I want there to be a beacon in case someone peaks and needs to see it.

As for me, the times I really appreciate the big O are when I encounter transfoolery IRL, whether it's intimidating stickers near my house or a relative spouting the scripts over dinner or a colleague posting fake stats on detransition. Then it is really nice to come back to a space where people are shouting 'THIS IS BULLSHIT' from the rooftops. xD

The US branch of radfem Twitter that I followed went off the rails and alienated the detransitioners that I followed, and the mothers I followed are all in psychological agony (which I understand, but which is bad for my mental health), so I've been avoiding it even more than the big O, where I can just check the news and bug out after. But I was always more active on Twitter when I was active anywhere and, after a few threads that Glinner retweeted, was more visible there, so the growing toxicity on Twitter was worse for me than being on the big O.

I will say, the one thing I miss about Twitter is the UK set. The women of TERF Island seem like they'd be a lot of fun.

Oh this is similar to me, I ditched the online spaces for a while for similar reasons, twitter was the only place I was reading stuff for a while bc there I could see the uk radfems and avoid the US drama. (Am a brit myself so am obv biased, but yeah I found the us crowd both too serious (ie: no humour) and not serious enough (ie: infighting over stupid shit and missing the big picture). I still reckon that whole arc was a psy op. I remember the time one of them showed up on pitt in an apparent attempt to alienate the parents, too, and I just can't believe anyone would be THAT stupid. I didn't want to disappear completely bc then they'd win, but I started spending more time gaming than I had in a while. :P

(I still like lotsa americans tho, just not the narcissists who seemed like they were trying to be the "face" of feminism while alienating just about everyone.)

I'm a US nonnie, and I find your summary of the US crowd depressingly accurate, which is why I can believe many of them can be that stupid. It could be something in our water here, I dunno.
