Reading around on Monkeypox, just to get a feel for how things could go. Find myself having a little cry about this article, not because of fear or anything like that, but just because of the humanity of it all.

The acknowledgement that “reactive, low mood” could just be a reasonable response to being isolated in a medical facility for weeks on end. The ethical dilemma about allowing the mother (patient 7, at that point uninfected) to stay with and care for her youngest child (patient 6) in isolation, and the acceptance that PPE just wasn’t going to happen. The decision to offer her an experimental treatment when she inevitably caught it, on the basis that she had been in isolation for over a month at that point.

Maybe I’m just tired.

Also, I really hope the no-longer-infectious father (patient 5) was still very ill, otherwise the decision to house him with the non-infected children while his non-immune wife cared for their infected child looks highly suspect.
