Update: They have not made friends, they fight every time they see one another so we've put up a cardboard barrier over the window to prevent this. Yesterday curious outdoor cat upped the ante and somehow leaped a meter to get onto our balcony (!), walked around mewing for attention until after five minutes my cat finally noticed and came in to the adjacent room to get her fight on. Siiiiigh.
