Snackbox arrived! (Fast) Cost a tenner. 14 snacks. Packaging is exciting. The outer box has a little pink monster on it, eating biscuits. It says "Turkish Munchies by Muekzoin". Idk what a muekzoin is.

The snacks have exciting names like "Krispi Taco" and "nutzz party". These snacks are fun because they're written in a roman alphabet, so you can read out the names wrong and with great enthusiasm. It came with a little pamphlet with a guide to the snacks, but that's cheating.

So far tried:

"fresh bak crispy fruit Freeze-Dried Elma". Packet is plainish green, with an apple on it. So we guessed elma = apple. And yep, this was freeze-dried apple. It was very sweet, not much flavour, creepily crispy/airy. Wouldn't get it again tbh, but maybe a standard freeze dried apple taste.

"ask tadinda". This is a chocolate biscuit bar, with a picture of a tiramisu on it. It's really good! It's crunchy, and looks like a big chocolate-box chocolate from the outside; milk chocolate coating crisscrossed with white. Biting in, there's a crunchy wafer. It has a light coffee chocolatey taste. I will totally buy more of these if I can.

(I think "gofret" is hazelnut. It says that on everything and there are pictures of hazelnuts on everything. This is not a set to get if you have a nut allergy, but my idea of Turkey is like "big hazelnut farms, apple tea, coffee", so this snackbox lines up well with what I expected. Well I've also heard the fresh fish is good, but I wasn't expecting to receive any here, and did not.)

and an "eksi yuz" (umlaut on the u but I'm too lazy to copypaste). This is a brown ball in a sma packet. There's a little green ball *on* the packet, looking uncomfortable. The packet unfortunately told me this was cola gum. But it did not say it was *sour*. However, the green fellow's displeased expression tipped me off. About as sour as a fini boom or something like that (but without the hard shell, same flavour but relatively soft). Sour flavour doesn't last as long. Now I want a fini boom.

Tried "ETI CRAX PATLAYAN LEZZET ACI BAHARATLI". These look like savoury, knobbly pocky. There are some pictures of chillis on the pack. We assumed they'd be spicy.

They're not. They taste of salty paprika. Not a big fan of paprika with bready things. The pamphlet that goes with them says you can use them as a lightsaber, and to eat them slowly because there is so much spice. Can't comment on lightsaber-capabilities, but there is ZERO spice. Expiration date is August 2022, so not like we just got an old pack.

(these guys: https://www.etietieti.com/images/Products/crax-patlayan-lezzet-aci-baharatli-cubuk-kraker_227_psb.png )

Then tried a tadelle. This is a chocolate bar! It's really good. Again, it's like a chocolate-box chocolate, just oversized. A hazelnut filling in a white chocolate coating. Picture a ferrero rocher or something like that, but without the crunch. So more or less like eating nutella.

(This fella: https://d887z346fkex1.cloudfront.net/images/detailed/10/59779568_1.jpg?t=1610240976 . Though ours didn't have a picture on the label; was plain white with just the name.)

So far I am learning that I should get Turkish chocolates more, because they seem to do a lot of hazelnutty praliney things that I like.

The dust of the pocky things was way nicer than the pocky things themselves, and actually a little spicy. Nom.

Tried a ULKER COKONAT. Despite the visual similarity of the name, this is not coconut. It's a hazelnut wafer. It's a bit like a bueno but nuttier, with a chocolate coating. It has that almost-stale taste of hazelnuts. This was today's hilight.

Had a HARBY. Despite the dramatic name that invites one to shout it, this was boring. It's a thin biscuit with a strip of chocolate and a strip of caramel under it. The chocolate has no flavour, the biscuit has no flavour but "dry", and the caramel no flavour but "sweet". It combines to form an inoffensive but utterly forgettable snack. So much for HARBY.

Finally, CREPE GOFRETTE. So, hazelnut crepe. Rolled up in a plastic packet so it's shaped roughly like a chocolate bar. I found this pretty gross. The crepe was dry, whatever. But the hazelnut creme filling was super processed; tasted petroly to me. Checked the ingredients; coconut; I don't like coconut, so maybe that's why. My friend liked it better, so got most of it. It reminded me of the feeling you get when you go to a European supermarket and buy loads of random chcolate snacks because you figure they'll be much nicer on the continent, then discover that somehow everything you picked is gross and artificial-tasting and now you're stuck with 12 inedible muffins in a packet patterned with elves.

Krispi Taco -- https://static.wixstatic.com/media/671876_e696af13d8cd4cc28c7338ee30f9ee53~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_1064,h_1064,al_c,q_85/671876_e696af13d8cd4cc28c7338ee30f9ee53~mv2.jpg -- more savoury pocky. These ones also claimed they were spicy and also were not. They do taste a little like taco seasoning, but the bready base is REALLY sweet so that's a bit offputting. You can taste a bit of paprika, but not too much. Eh. Wouldn't bother with them again. If they were spicier and/or less sweet, they could've been really good. They're the kind of thing you eat mindlessly at a snack table at a party to avoid making conversation, but you wouldn't choose to buy.

Wanted Caramel bar-- https://turkishporter.com/eti-wanted-caramel-chocolate-bar -- looked a bit like an extra-knobbly aero. So that was exciting and we had high hopes for it. You bite in, and for a second it tastes nice, like a Lion bar. Then the chocolate taste hits. It's disgusting. Tastes like petrol. Friend said it was nice. Friend has no taste. I did admit it was not quite as disgusting as hershey; you can actually swallow this. But you won't want another bite. The pamphlet says these are popular in Turkey, but I do not believe Wanted caramel bars are wanted anywhere by anyone.
