Re: How's life?
Date: 2021-09-23 11:58 pm (UTC)My bf gets me the weirdest gifts sometimes, though his choices tend to be just strange rather than tacky. Today he brought me back a box of "women's tea" because he found it funny that people were gendering tea, and he said it looked tastier than the "man tea". (It's this stuff, good luck getting through that blurb: https://www.yogitea.com/en/products/yogi-tea/womens-tea/ 🤢). The women's is described as "vibrant, compassionate, wonderful". The men's is described as "strong, down to earth, spicy". So if I'd been in the shop I'd have refused to spend money on any of their products on principle. But now the sexist "women's" tea is bought, and he likes the taste better than I do, so now it's his tea. Tbf he also brought back some genmaicha for me, which actually should be nice. I think the weirdest gift I've got from him is a bright blue hat shaped like a cat, with ears, that's tiny. And he knew it was too small because it was too small for *him* and my head's bigger. He said he just kind of hoped it might grow on the walk from the shop...
I normally buy him poptarts and chocolate. Tbf he does buy me pastries all the time, so the weird gifts don't feel frustrating, as they would if they were *always* weird. I just feel a bit mean because he'll be like "I got you a present!" and I'm torn between "yay, present!" and "this is going to be something weird, isn't it..." and I don't want him to feel bad about my reception. xD
